As the saying goes “Home is where the heart is,” and it is universally acknowledged that when you leave what once was home, a piece of your heart is often left behind. That’s exactly what two middle-aged siblings, Nikola and Sasa, discover when they return years later at their mother’s house following her death, intending to clear it out. Be they pleasant or painful, past memories, along with the familiar paths of their relationship dynamic will emerge like a lingering scent from what was once a warm nest but now stands desolate, bereft. Filip Peruzović lovingly explores the bonds and tensions of sibling love with remarkable attention to emotional detail, as well as the complex equation of the equilibrium between family in an unexpected coming-of-age film that reflects upon the struggle of emptying out everything from the home you carry within – the past – and the necessity of doing so, if you only wish to move forward.

Filip Peruzović

Born in 1986. Graduated in Film Directing from the Academy of Dramatic Arts, Zagreb, in 2015. Directed the TV film Walk the Dog (Croatian Actor’s Guild Award for Best Drama and Best Actor) in 2015. Directed the segment “Sinking Objects” in the Deep Cuts anthology film, which was screened at the Sarajevo Film Festival, won the Best Camera Award at the Pula Film Festival in 2018, the Best New Talent Award at the Valletta Film Festival in 2019, and participated in more than 20 international festivals. Wrote and directed the short film Little Waves, which won the Best Croatian Film Award at the 2023 Cinehill Festival and the Best Cinematography Award at Shots Festival in Slovenj Gradec.
