TIFF65: Greek Premiere
In their latest film, Guy Maddin, Evan and Galen Johnson dance between black comedy, political satire, dystopian horror, survival thriller, and soap opera with anarchic energy. This darkly comic take on a disaster we’ve lived through without even noticing unfolds at an emergency G7 summit, where world leaders must confront a global crisis that remains unnamed. As they attempt to craft a statement to calm public panic, they slowly unravel, becoming caricatures lost in a treacherous forest. Once symbols of power, they are reduced to powerless figures, stumbling through their own fears. A delirious, surreal journey, a biting satire on institutional collapse and the existential void of a world on the brink of self-destruction.
