The family circumstances are tragic: Leni is battling an illness that is breaking her down, and her mother is working day and night (as a lady of the night) to take care of her daughter and her health. There is little imagination in their lives. Until the day Marcel comes along, a playwright marked by aloofness who will find his convictions challenged by Leni’s desire to make the most of life. In a world where everything is preordained, these three characters will play an important role in each other's lives. A nuanced account of a vulnerable yet cocky modern Hamlet and a series of self-conscious, highly intriguing cinematic games weaves a unique story about close encounters of the rarest kind.

Cătălin Rotaru

Cătălin Rotaru and Gabi Sarga is a Romanian writer/director duo. In 2003, they graduated from the National University of Theatre and Cinema in Bucharest where they studied acting. They have written and directed for television and theater for almost twenty years. Their debut short film 4:15 P.M. The End of the World premiered at Cannes IFF in 2016. Their debut feature film Thou Shalt Not Kill premiered at Warsaw IFF in 2018.
