A young man approaching his thirties without a clear purpose in life decides to seize the opportunity presented to him: to sell twenty kilograms of cocaine on behalf of a local mob boss. A visually dazzling gangster drama alluding to the cinema of Paolo Sorrentino and Nicolas Winding Refn, Pietro Castellito’s Enea (which features the director himself alongside his father) is loosely inspired by Virgil’s Aeneid to provide a wholly unique perspective within the genre. Through impressive nocturnal cinematography and impeccable visual styling, Castellito, in only his sophomore feature, displays remarkable directorial maturity, seamlessly blending suspense with melancholy to paint a picture of a declining world, marching towards its ultimate demise with proud, amoral grandeur.

Pietro Castellitto
Pietro Contento Castellitto is an Italian actor, film director, and screenwriter, the son of actor and director Sergio Castellitto, and writer Margaret Mazzantini. Castellitto began his acting career in the early 2000s, in films directed by his father, such as Don’t Move. In 2020, Castellitto presented his directorial debut The Predators at the Horizons section of the 77th Venice Film Festival, where he received the Best Screenplay Award.
