In this meticulously crafted yet austere story, a modern, urgent dilemma unfolds: Asta tries to find meaning and a sense of place in the coastal town in Western Norway where she works as a journalist. As she attempts to uncover the truth behind the disappearance of an asylum seeker, her personal life and her views on justice are affected. An elegant, beautifully framed drama, which, in the words of the filmmaker, demonstrates “how a quiet pace, static camera, and a subtle story can activate the viewer to engage with the film... Anders Emblem (1985) comes from Ålesund, a town on the western coast of Norway. He has spent the last ten years at university doing film studies, traveling the world and working as a social worker. A Human Position (2022) is his second feature after Hurry Slowly (2018).
