Rose, a vet student, has just discovered that she’s adopted. Tracking down her birth mother, a successful TV actor, she’s in for a traumatic experience, as a dark secret comes to light. Riddled with rejection and rage, Rose disguises herself with a wig and confronts her biological father, posing as Julie. A stark psychological thriller wrapped in a chilling ambiance of clinical detachment, which unfolds as a tragedy of shattered identities and haunting memories.

Christine Molloy, Joe Lawlor

Christine Molloy and Joe Lawlor, both Dublin-born, studied Theater in the UK and staged several acclaimed performances before shifting their interest to cinema. They have directed 10 short films, among which the award-winning Who Killed Brown Owl and Joy. Helen, their debut feature, premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival and was screened at over 50 festivals worldwide. Their second feature, Mister John, was released in the UK and Ireland. Rose Plays Julie is the duo’s third feature fiction film.
