Rudina, already overburdened with responsibilities, is about to receive yet another unexpected blow: her younger sister Elma, who has just returned to Albania from Italy, is pregnant and, on top of that, unmarried. As the two sisters set out to visit their diehard and conservative old father, living in a remote mountain village, they find themselves faced with the prejudices and narrow-mindedness of a patriarchal society. A neatly crafted road-movie of family reconciliation that navigates through a disorientated country, striving to balance between modernity and the traditional – and often enough oppressive – web of values.

Florenc Papas

Florenc Papas, born in Albania, studied film directing at the Marubi Film Academy. His debut feature film, Open Door, premiered in the main competition at the 25th Sarajevo Film Festival and was screened at over 40 festivals worldwide. Open Door was Albania’s official entry for the Oscars in 2020. He served as the Programming Director for the Tirana International Film Festival from 2015 until 2022. In 2016, he founded his independent production company, Tunnelfilm. Recently, he completed his second feature film, Luna Park. He is a member of the European Film Academy and his name was included in the 2021 Forbes’ Europe 30 Under 30 List for Entertainment.
