Don’t miss this week at the Olympion Lav Diaz’s Magellan, tracing the life of the legendary Ferdinand Magellan, the fearless and visionary 16th-century seafarer. A slow-burning odyssey of courage, ambition and relentless exploration, the film follows the ambitious Portuguese navigator at the helm of a perilous mission to chart unknown waters and prove that the world was far greater than the society of his time believed.
Six films continue their run at the Festival’s theatres:
The historical drama Without a Father by the award-winning László Nemes (Son of Saul) unfolds in the aftermath of the 1956 Hungarian uprising, returning to the darker edges of history, not only of his home country but across Europe.

Reedland, a stark and stripped-down psychological thriller and the striking directorial debut of Sven Bresser, begins as a whodunit before unfolding into a deeper exploration of patriarchal violence, xenophobia, and collective guilt.

A luminous biographical animation by Sylvain Chomet (The Triplets of Belleville, The Illusionist) revisits the life and work of Marcel Pagnol, a towering figure of both theatre and early sound cinema, in The Magnificent Life.

A true, funny and deeply moving coming-of-age story, I Swear by Kirk Jones is a film about strength, acceptance and the courage to be yourself, even when no one understands you.

The highly anticipated and gripping Greek thrillerLast Callby Sherif Francis, inspired by real events that shocked Greek society in the late ‘90s.

A deeply moving film led by an outstanding Carmen Maura, Malaga Street by Maryam Touzani offers a subtle, life-affirming portrait that gently overturns every stereotype surrounding old age. Winner of the Audience Award at the Venice Spotlight section of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival.
