Film director, cinematographer, screenwriter, producer and editor Yorgos Panousopoulos was behind some of the most beautiful films in the history of Greek cinema. We will always carry within us the imagery, love stories, Greek light, ambiance and landscapes featured in his films.

On Monday March 9th, within the framework of the grand tribute to archives presented by the 28th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival titled “All the World’s Memory,” an open discussion titled “Genealogy of the Future: Archive and Cinema” was held at Olympion theater.

The 28th TiDF bestowed the Honorary Golden Alexander to the American multimedia artist Bill Morrison for his overall contribution to the art of cinema on Monday March 9th, at Pavlos Zannas theater.

Within the framework of the 28th TiDF’s Agora, the presentation of the projects participating in this year’s Thessaloniki Pitching Forum, TFF’s co-producing and co-financing platform, took place on Monday March 9th.

The 28th TIDF presented the film Etel Adnan: Words in Exile by Vouvoula Skoura with accessible terms, in a screening held with the support, the Festival's accessibility sponsor.

Within the framework of the 28th TiDF, a special screening of the episode "Why the Mountains are Black: Rituals", a co-production between COSMOTE TV and Onassis Culture, took place with the contributors in attendance.

Within the framework of the 28th TIDF, the film We Live Among You by Maria Katsikadakou (Cyber), which focuses on diabetes and the everyday struggles it entails for all patients.

Within the framework of the 28th TiDF, the cinematic iteration of the project "Third Person (Plural)" by visual artist Aikaterini Gegisian, which draws on archival material, was presented on Saturday, March 7th, at the Takis Kanellopoulos theater.

Within the framework of the 28th TiDF, Dimitris Koutsiabasakos’ documentary Heracles, Acheloos And My Granny (1997) was screened with enhanced accessibility features.

The opening ceremony of the 28th TiDF took place before a full house at the Olympion theatre, in a warm atmosphere which highlighted both the importance of close collaboration among the city’s cultural institutions and the growing significance of documentary filmmaking in the turbulent times we are living through.

Filmography is nearing completion: an invaluable project dedicated to the documentation, preservation, and promotion of Greek cinema, implemented with funding from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0”.

The innovative Immersive: All around Cinema competition section embraces works that make use of the most up-to-date technologies to showcase different views of an extended reality.

Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival is hosting once again its Podcast section, welcoming a total of 23 podcasts, taking part at the Podcast Competition and the Nexus Section.

Juliette Binoche will attend the 28th TIDF to present her directorial debut, but also with her capacity as President of the European Film Academy. In addition, she will share her thoughts with the audience in an open discussion (11/3).

The most dynamic and active documentary market in Southeastern Europe returns at the 28th TiDF with new synergies and awards, having firmly established its role as a meeting and networking hub for documentary professionals from around the world.

With great pleasure, the 28th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival announces the films taking part in the three competition sections of this year’s festival edition: the International Competition, the Newcomers competition section and the Film Forward competition section.

The 28th TiDF turns its gaze to the work of Vouvoula Skoura, presenting 20 films that unveil her multi-layered universe. The director will be bestowed with the Festival’s honorary Golden Alexander.

Thought-provoking, seat-gripping and up-to-the-minute, Greek documentaries draw their strength from personal testimonies and narrations, and reflect all social turbulences and dynamics of our times, taking center stage at the 28th TiDF.
