The ever familiar image of the imposing cranes in the port of Thessaloniki is reimagined through the work of Alexandros Psychoulis, which will feature across this year’s edition. In the artist’s own words: “I grew up facing the port of Volos, gazing from my balcony at the huge cranes I would later come across at the Port of Thessaloniki. I grew up waiting for the moment when the cranes’ claws emerged from the ships’ holds, hauling up and revealing part of their innards, much like documentaries draw a fragment from life, suspending it briefly before the viewers’ eyes.”

SMART7, the network of like-minded European film festivals supported by Creative Europe MEDIA, completed the third phase of their workshop program dedicated to festival organisers. With a focus on sustainable human resources, well-being and mental health, the two-day event took place in Madrid, Spain December 2-3, and was open to every festival organiser.

Agora Talk: “Smarter Sets: Technology in the Service of a Greener Industry”
The discussion “Smarter Sets: Technology in the Service of a Greener Industry” took place on Wednesday, November 4, at the Event Hall of the Thessaloniki Music Center, as part of the 66th TIFF’s Agora Talks. The panel, moderated by journalist Theodoris Georgakopoulos, featured Bassam Alasad (Producer, Cultural Organizer, Climate Storytelling and Production Consultant – Greener Screen), George Chatzivasileiou (PhD, Philosophy of AI, Author and Documentary Director), and Emma Doxiadi (Filmmaker, Sustainability Coordinator – Everybodies).

The discussion “Do it Right: From Concept to the Festival Circuit” took place on Wednesday, November 5, as part of the Agora Talks at the 66th TIFF. Addressing his opening remarks, Thanos Stavropoulos, Manager of Agora, warmly welcomed the participants and the audience, expressing his gratitude towards the Municipality of Thessaloniki for hosting the event at the Thessaloniki Music Center.
