Making of

Bahta, 25, heads up a group of break dancers in Tunisia, but after the eruption of hostilities in Iraq in 2003, he falls in with a group of fundamentalists, whose brainwashing is intended to make him a suicide bomber. In the framing story, the actor playing Bahta doesn’t know how the film will end, and he and the director have conflicts of their own.

Nouri Bouzid

He was born in 1945 in Sfax,Tunisia. He studied Cinema at the INSAS in Brussels from 1968 to 1972, and made a short film, Duel. He also worked on Andre Delvaux’s Rendezvous a Bray. His film career was interrupted when he was imprisoned from 1973 through 1979, for his membership in GEAST (Groupe d’Etudes et d’Action Socialiste Tunisien). In 1992, France made him a Knight of Arts and Letters, and six years later he won the Presidential Prize of the Cinema in Tunisia. He now teaches at a cinema school, the EDAC, which he founded in 1994. He also writes poetry and has published a poetry collection, Sinners.
