In Belgrade 2001, after the overthrown of Milošević’s regime, a former university Literature Professor now works as a manager of a publishing house. One day, he receives a visit by stranger, who turns out he was a former officer of State Security assigned to report his daily movements. This tragicomical encounter reveals the eclectic bonds connecting these heroes lives and presents with bitter humor the political reality of Serbia during the 90s. The Professional by theatrical author and scriptwriter Dušan Kovacević is based on the play of the same name.

Dušan Kovačević

Dušan Kovačević was born on 12 of July 1948 in Mrđenovac near Šabac. He graduated in 1973 from the Academy of Theatre, Film, Radio and Television in Belgrade (Department of Dramaturgy). His film scriptshave received numerous international awards, while his fifteen theatrical plays have been translated in seventeen languages and staged in many theatres of ex-Yugoslavia and todays Serbia and Montenegro. Only in Belgrade, his plays have been performed more than 2,200 times and seen by more than 1.5 million spectators.
