Lola, an 18-year-old transgender woman who is finally about to get her sex-changing operation done, is shocked by her mother’s unexpected death. She and her distant father will begrudgingly travel together along the Belgian seaside to fulfill the deceased’s last wish and scatter her ashes on the beach of her childhood years. A road movie that travels through time instead of space, as the conflicting duo revisits a brutal family history distorted by pain, trauma, and bitterness. A tender portrait of two lost souls who fight against the demons of remorse, the burden of failure, struggling to forgive and be forgiven.

Laurent Micheli
Born in Brussels in 1982, Laurent Micheli worked as an actor for 10 years. He directed his first feature film Even Lovers Get The Blues, released in 2017 and selected in many international festivals and received many awards. In addition, Laurent Micheli studied at the Writing Workshop of La Femis in Paris from which he graduated in 2016. Lola is Laurent Micheli’s second feature film.
