Philip, aged 13, returns home, as if nothing had happened, after missing for a week. The boy’s disappearance had plunged his family as well as local society into morbid anxiety, but, paradoxically enough, it is his reappearance that will detonate a state of existential despair. A philosophical essay on modern-times alienation, blended with spices of offbeat humor, in which bodies, words and relationships wander purposelessly about, as if stunned by life and emotions. An enigmatic portrait of a family in crisis, dusted with non-linear opacity and set against a stunning backdrop of crispy autumn light.

Angela Schanelec
German actress, film director, and screenwriter Angela Schanelec studied Acting in Frankfurt, as well as Directing at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin. She currently works as a professor at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg. Her film Places in Cities was screened at the Cannes’ Un Certain Regard, while her latest feature I Was at Home, But… won the Silver Bear for Best Director at the Berlinale.
