Já, Olga Hepnarová

In 1973, 22-year-old Olga Hepnarová drove a truck through a crowd of people on a Prague street, killing eight and injuring twelve. Captured immediately, she dismissed any legal defense and literally invited the death penalty, becoming the last woman executed in former Czechoslovakia. A stylish submersion into the dark and mazy corridors of a fragile soul tormented by a life of constant abuse and contempt. A hypnotic story of sadness and madness, garnished with subtle compositions, an austere black and white cinematography and a melancholic aura.

Tomáš Weinreb

The Czech creative duo consisting of Tomáš Weinreb and Petr Kazda is involved in co-writing scripts and co-directing film projects. Both studied at Prague’s FAMU: Kazda focused on Screenwriting, while Weinreb specialized in Documentary Film. Together, they have shot several student films and written feature scripts, and went on to found their own production outfit, Black Balance. I, Olga is their feature debut.
