An ambitious young Palestinian scriptwriter who works as an intern on the production of the popular soap opera Tel Aviv on Fire tries to benefit from his daily encounter with an Israeli guard at the checkpoint, to push his career forward. Conquering a great challenge – the shooting of a pensive comedy about the charged, complex Middle Eastern reality – the director recalls the words of Charlie Chaplin: “To truly laugh, you must be able to take your pain, and play with it.”
