Lemonade

A thirty-year-old mother from Romania, who works in the US as a caretaker, marries one of her patients shortly before her visa expires, in order to grant her son a better future. However, the hostility of her environment and the misfortunes of everyday bureaucracy make her doubt whether she did the right thing. A production by Palme d’Or winner Cristian Mungiu (one of the main representatives of the so-called “New Wave of Romanian cinema”) about the bitter and sour taste of the modern world, where the cruelest power is forced through the illusion of free choice.
