Visiting Room

The Romanian penitentiary system allows, from 2006, the marriage of people sentenced to serve time in prison. Most of the inmates cultivate pre-existing relationships with their partners who live outside the prison walls. However, there is a special category of people, who find a life partner during their time in prison. Visiting Roomfollows the stories of prisoners from different penitentiaries across the country who have found their life partner while incarcerated. These partners may be a person from the outside or a person who is also serving time in prison. For people who are not free, love becomes a substitute for freedom and represents their only hope for a better future.
