A documentary about the small Greek island of Serifos in the Aegean Sea. It tells the story of the mining industry active there from the late 19th century until mid 60s and of the people that worked in the mines. Through the memories of the last living miners, we look back at the island’s conflicted past following a historical journey that culminates in the bloody strike of 1916 (one of the first strikes to ever take place in Greece) and, most importantly, its aftermath. The island seems to have lost its bearings today: a place unable to come to terms with its past, facing the future with an uncertain look. A documentary about the secrets that lie behind the gorgeous sunsets and the glistening blue sea of Serifos.
