The Self Portrait

Norwegian Lene Marie Fossen, ever since the age of ten, has been suffering from severe anorexia, which eventually led to her death in October 2019. Over the last ten years of her life, Lene received acclaim as a world-class photographer. Through her work, she confronted the unbearable shame: her art is bare and honest. Lene had the chance to watch the film’s final cut before passing away, and decided, along with her parents, that this heart-numbing documentary should serve as a shield against an insidious and devouring disease. A portrait of our inner fears; an homage to the healing powers of art.
