A day in the life of Helena, who works at a «Wagner» hydraulic press. Today she will finally see her dream come true: she is moving into her own house. On this November afternoon, she will first set eyes on her new apartment. Exhausted with happiness, Helena falls asleep on the matress offered to her by the real estate agency, but wakes up in the middle of the night, starving with hunger. And so begin her wanderings, in search of a piece of bread. Each of her neighbors is locked up in his own little world, doing his best to survive, leaving a life with no meaning, with fake ideals. Finally, Helena will be given her piece of bread by some beggars, but she will lose all that is important to her: her job and her apartment. At last, she will be free!
