One day in 1988, an man named Dae-su Oh, who lives with his wife and young daughter, is kidnapped and later wakes up to find himself in a private makeshift prison. He makes numerous attempts to escape and to commit suicide, but fails. All the while, he asks himself what made a man hate him so much as to imprison him without any reason.While watching the news one day, he is shocked to hear that his wife has been brutally murdered.At that very moment, he swears to take revenge on the man who destroyed his life.
