ESCAPE FROM AMORGOS

During the military dictatorship in Greece (1967-74), thousands of dissidents were imprisoned, tortured and exiled. Among the exiled politicianswas the former minister Georgios Mylonas. The place of exile was the island of Amorgos. In 1969, an international conspiracy took place to organize his escape: the participants were Americans who sheltered the tortured Greeks, Swedish diplomats, and a team of Italian volunteers pretending to be tourists.
