51st TIFF: Francophone Day

FRANCOPHONE DAY

The 51st Thessaloniki International Film Festival hosts this Sunday, December 5th, Francophone Day TV5MONDE, an initiative of the international TV station, taking place with the collaboration of the French Consulate in Thessaloniki.

In the context of Francophone Day several French and French-speaking films will be screened, such as Mammuth by Benoit Delepine and Gustave Kervern (5.12, Olympion Theater, 20.30). Festival Director Dimitris Eipides, the French Consul Mr. Christian Thimonier, the director of the Thessaloniki French Institute, Mr. Julien Chiappone-Lucchesi, as well as representatives of TV5MONDE will attend the screening.

In addition, at 18.30 tonight, the opening of the documentary installation exhibition Sakis: A Tomb by French director Vincent Dieutre will take place in the Thessaloniki French Institute Gallery (2a Stratou Avenue). 30 years after his last visit to Thessaloniki, Dieutre returns, laden with the memories of Sakis, a young man lost a long time ago; his installation in the shape of a tomb is a testament to a story of love and pain (until the 15th of December).
