BALKAN FUND & CROSSROADS WINNERS AT THE 61ST CANNES FILM FESTIVAL
The Thessaloniki International Film Festival and director Despina Mouzaki are proud to announce that three projects that have participated and won awards in the Festival’s industry-related activities have been selected for the 61st Cannes Film Festival.
Aida Begic’s first feature film Snow has been included in the 47th Semaine de la Critique, Cannes 2008 lineup. The Bosnia-Herzegovina – French co-production was awarded one of the 10.000 Euros BALKAN FUND script development grants in 2004.
Razvan Radulescu’s and Melissa de Raaf’s project First of All, Felicia has been selected for the Cannes section L’Atelier. The well-known Romanian screenwriter and his Dutch colleague are first-time directors and were granted one of the four 10.000 Euros prizes for further script development at last year’s 5th edition of the BALKAN FUND, headed by Christina Kallas.
L’ Atelier also features the project of Israeli director Nadav Lapid, The Policeman, which participated in last year’s 3rd edition of the CROSSROADS CO-PRODUCTION FORUM, headed by Marie-Pierre Macia. The Policeman won the CROSSROADS award of 10.000 Euros as the most promising film project of the selection.
The CROSSROADS CO-PRODUCTION FORUM is also happy to announce that Ozcan Alper’s film Autumn’s Lament, a project presented in the CROSSROADS event of 2007, was successfully finished and is awaiting to start its festival career really soon.
Both events are part of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival’s Industry activities, which are completed by Agora, the TIFF Market.
The deadline for the submission of applications for the BALKAN FUND is May 23, 2008 and for the CROSSROADS CO-PRODUCTION FORUM is August 30, 2008. All relevant information can be downloaded from our website: http://www.filmfestival.gr
