Film description

A Roma family leaves war-torn Kosovo for Germany. Yet, once the war ends, despite the fact that the family has successfully integrated, the German state sends half of the family back to Kosovo, considering it now safe for repatriation. Only, Nasmi, the youngest member of the family, has known of only one home – Germany-, while the Roma are still not welcome in Kosovo by either side. Filmed over a period of fifteen years, I Saw a "Suno" chronicles the absurd odyssey of a reunion, as well as a coming-of-age that is overshadowed by a crucial unresolved issue. A documentary that not only exposes systemic racism, but also emphasizes that the concept of belonging remains hollow unless it includes a family, and, by extension, a community in which one is truly accepted.
