Film description
The film follows the story of Nina, a ballerina in a New York City ballet company, whose life is utterly consumed by her profession. She lives with her retired ballerina mother, who obsessively supports her daughter’s ambitions. When the company’s artistic director Thomas Leroy decides to replace the prima ballerina for the opening production of the new season, Swan Lake, Nina is his first choice. But Nina has competition; a new and talented dancer, Lily, with whom Nina develops a dark and warped friendship, is also vying for the role. As rehearsals progress, Nina’s fears and realizations threaten to destroy her career and her life.
