History & Results
TiDF AGORA was established together with the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival [TDF], in 1999. AGORA first, was mostly a Doc Market presenting Balkan documentaries and professionals. Very quickly it was established as an international market for documentary films, the third largest documentary Market in Europe with a very successful Pitching Forum organized then by EDN (European Documentary Network) between 2001-2019. The AGORA Docs in Progress was launched in 2012, focusing on the countries of Southeastern Europe and the Mediterranean region. Over the years AGORA evolved into a significant spring industry event for documentaries presenting additional industry activities such as AGORA Talks, match-making services and Doc Counseling, the AGORA Lab and Meet the Future. In 2020, the AGORA team took over the organization of the Thessaloniki Pitching Forum, redirecting its focus on projects form Southeastern Europe and the Mediterranean region, in order to actively support the regional documentary community and bind all development activities towards the same goal: to spotlight stories from the wider neighborhood and support a/v works from LCC. The projects and films that have participated in TiDF AGORA and its various programs have gone on to travel to festivals across the world while many have found theatrical as well as TV and VOD distribution across regions.
