Roland Vajs, the famous Serb-American sound designer, who has collaborated with great directors such as Martin Scorsese, Ang Lee and Michael Moore delivered a masterclass at the packed Pavlos Zannas Theatre on Thursday November 11. The masterclass titled "Deconstructing film sound", where Roland Vajs and his foley team shed light on the process of creating sound in films, is part of the tribute "In the Cut: The Editing and its Secrets", hosted by the 62nd TIFF.

The award-winning editor Yannis Chalkiadakis delivered a masterclass on Wednesday November 10, at Pavlos Zannas theater, as part of the tribute “In the Cut: Editing and its Secrets”, hosted by the 62nd Thessaloniki International Film Festival. Drawing material from his rich filmography, Yannis Chalkiadakis shared with the audience the secret of what we see, what we don’t see, as well as the things we dream of, when we watch a film on the big screen.

Andrei Tarkovsky’s masterpiece The Mirror was screened On Tuesday, November 9, at Makedonikon, as part of the carte blanche offered by the 62nd TIFF to the internationally renowned editor Claire Atherton, guest of the Festival’s tribute "In the Cut: Editing and its secrets". Claire Atherton shared with the audience some thoughts on the film, just before the start of the screening, in the crowded theatre.

On Tuesday, November 9th, the Europa Cinemas 2020 Best Programming Award was bestowed to the movie theatres of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, at the packed Olympion theatre. The award ceremony was held prior to the screening of Gaspar Noé’s film Vortex.
