ZONAR’S, FAREWELL WALTZ

The film documents the three last days of operation of Zonar’s, a traditional coffee house and Athenian landmark, as well as its history. Old Athenians, who frequented the coffee house, express their bitterness and anger at its closing and reminisce about more innocent and romantic times, when Zonar’s was an inseparable part of their lives. From Athens of the past, we return to modern-day reality: the building/street-block that housed Zonar’s is being taken over by the “Attica” luxury shopping centre, reminding us all that modern society has no time for memories.
