Film description
Josef Bloch, goalkeeper, lets in an easy goal during a match and storms off the pitch after a row with the referee. He checks into a hotel, kills time in a cinema and gets mugged. Recovering, he sleeps with the cashier of the cinema. Next morning he strangles her. In the days that follow he reads the papers for news of police efforts to trace the killer and flirts. On the day that the papers print his identikit portrait, he wanders into a small football ground and chats with a traveling salesman who is watching the game, challenging him to keep his eyes on the solitary goalkeeper rather than on the moving ball.
