Film description
Kornel Szilagyi and Nador Hevesi were first discovered in the mid-90s by Gyorgy Durst – former BBS director – who became their producer. As the Buharov brothers they have, since 1993, co-created three Super 8 feature films and numerous shorts. Meditative storylines and dreamlike aesthetics reign supreme over their films and some invisible handbrake prevents their visually striking work from any possibility of pop-culture commodification. The continuation of some kind of state-funded experimental film production through “Duna-Workshop,” instigated by Durst and Sandor Sara (DunaTelevision’s chairman at the time),was one of the final efforts to revive the BBS approach and gave the Buharovs the rare opportunity to address a wider public without compromising their weird, but intrinsically Hungarian, narrative integrity.
