The director, producer, and cinematographer Sakis Maniatis was born in Messinia,Greece. He has collaborated as a director or photography with renowned filmmakers, including Michael Cacoyannis, Nikos Koundouros, Stavros Tornes, Daniel Bertolino, and Martin de Bercy. The documentary Megara, co-directed with Yorgos Tsemberopoulos, participated in nine European film festivals and won the Best Film Award at the Thessaloniki Film Festival and the International Critics Association Award at the Berlin Forum Festival. In 1975, at the 16th Thessaloniki Film Festival, he received a special mention for his feature film Mani, while in 1981 he was awarded for special achievements in cinematography for Mimi Kougioumtzis’ film Before the Performance.
