EXPRESS SCOPELITIS – MOTHER OF THE ISLANDS

Greece 2008 53 Digibeta Color-B&W
Film description
A chronicle of the unique and long-standing relationship between the Scopelitis family and the inhabitants of the Small Eastern Cyclades islands, which dates back to 1958, when young Captain Mitsos Scopelitis began delivering the islanders their mail with his caique, the “Panormitis”. Today, fifty years later, the survival and development of these remote islands owe a lot to the daily trip of a little ship, the “Express Scopelitis”, skippered by Captain Mitsos’ son, Υannis Scopelitis and his first mate Υannis Fostieris. They serve the islanders with a rare combination of professionalism, modesty and kindness. It is not surprising that the inhabitants of the eastern Cyclades refer to the “Express Scopelitis” as the “mother of the islands”. Captain Mitsos Scopelitis is also known for his exceptional talent at playing the violin.
